Lord Krishna is the eighth avatar of Mahavishnu (Narayana), who descended to Earth about 5,000 years ago. His advent was necessary to restore dharma—the universal order and righteousness. At the same time, He revealed to humanity the highest dimension: a relationship of Divine Love connecting Him with each of us.
About 5,000 years ago, in the Dvapara-yuga, Lord Krishna appeared on Earth as the eighth avatar of Mahavishnu.
He was born in Mathura, to Vasudeva and Devaki. His appearance was tied to a special mission—to restore dharma (the law of righteousness), destroy evil, and grant humanity a path of spiritual awakening.
Krishna revealed Himself as:
a divine child, miraculously saved from King Kamsa;
the playful cowherd of Vrindavan, ever playing His flute and enchanting all;
a wise king and diplomat guiding the events of the Mahabharata;
and, above all, a Teacher of spiritual knowledge, revealing the truth of the soul and God.
Krishna’s Teachings
❤️ Knowledge of the eternal Self — of the soul, its nature, and purpose. This wisdom is given in the Śrīmad Bhagavad-gītā (dialogue with Arjuna) and the Uddhava-gītā (dialogue with Uddhava).
❤️ He teaches the art of devotion (bhakti-yoga) — how to open the heart and make one’s life an offering to the Divine.
❤️ Krishna is not only a spiritual teacher, but also a wise ruler, subtle statesman, Guru, inspirer, and the eternal companion of the soul.
Name and Essence
✨ The name “Krishna” translates as “all-attractive.”
In Sanskrit its root is connected with ākarṣaṇa — “to attract.”
Its literal sense is “dark,” “black,” or “dark-blue”—a color symbolizing depth and infinity.
Krishna is the God who draws everyone and leaves no one untouched.
He is known by many names, each revealing different qualities and forms.
Three Forms of Krishna
In the Vaiṣṇava tradition there is a mantra:
śrī viṭṭhala giridhārī parabrahmaṇe namaḥ
“Obeisance to the Supreme Lord Vitthala, the refuge and protector of all.”
This mantra unites three of Krishna’s aspects:
Vitthala — the Lord who gives refuge and protection.
Giridhari — He who lifted Govardhan Hill, saving the people.
Jagannatha (Parabrahman) — the Supreme Lord of the universe.
The Power of the Mantra
🪬 Understanding the mantra’s deep meaning makes japa (repetition) more conscious and alive.
🪬 Chanting Krishna’s Name links us with the Divine, opens the heart, and awakens the joy of devotion.
Krishna is not only the deity of ancient scriptures. He is the eternal companion of the soul, Teacher, and Friend who calls us to Himself. He teaches us to live in Love, to see in ourselves and others a spark of the Divine, and to build life on devotion and truth.
🙏 May Krishna’s Name be a support and inspiration for everyone seeking light and inner freedom.
The Bhagavad-gita Has Answers to All Our Questions
The Bhagavad-gita is the sacred dialogue between Krishna and Arjuna, spoken on the eve of the great Kurukshetra war.
Arjuna, the greatest warrior and Krishna’s friend, fell into a deep spiritual crisis:
before him stood relatives, teachers, and loved ones—those he was meant to fight;
his heart was torn between his kṣatriya duty and compassion;
he dropped his bow and said to Krishna: “I cannot. I’d rather renounce the battle.”
Krishna’s Teaching to Arjuna — Core Truths of the Gita
Nature of the soul:
The soul is eternal; it is neither born nor does it die. The body is a temporary covering; the true Self is indestructible.
Dharma (duty):
Each person must fulfill their duty without attachment to the fruits of action. Acting for God is the highest path.
Karma-yoga:
The art of action without attachment to results.
Bhakti-yoga:
The path of love and devotion to God — the supreme yoga, uniting the soul directly with Krishna.
Vision of Krishna as the Supreme:
In Chapter 11, Krishna reveals to Arjuna His cosmic form — Parabrahman, the Supreme Truth, the source of all that exists.
The story of Krishna and Arjuna is more than an ancient epic.
It symbolizes the inner battle of every person:
between fear and duty,
between ego and soul,
between the temporary and the eternal.
Krishna reminds us:
👉 True happiness lies in service to God.
👉 The soul’s duty is devotion and love.
👉 Everything is transient except our connection with the Divine.
The Coming of Krishna and the Dialogue with Arjuna (A Legend)
Around five thousand years ago the world sank into turmoil. Evil increased, rulers lost justice, and human hearts succumbed to greed and pride. Then the Supreme—Mahavishnu—descended in His eighth incarnation as Krishna to restore balance and remind people of the path of dharma.
He appeared in Mathura, to Vasudeva and Devaki. King Kamsa, who ruled the city, learned a prophecy that Krishna would be his end and tried to kill Him as an infant. But the Divine power protected the child. Thus began the story of Krishna — the miraculous cowherd of Vrindavan, playing His flute and filling hearts with joy and love.
The Bhagavad-gita: Dialogue on the Battlefield
Years passed. Krishna became a wise guide and ruler. Amid the events of the Mahabharata, the moment came for the great battle on the field of Kurukshetra.
Arjuna, the greatest warrior among the Pandavas and Krishna’s close friend, stood in the battle lines. Seeing his opponents, he saw not enemies, but kin, friends, and teachers. His hands trembled; his heart clenched with pain. He lowered his bow and said to Krishna:
“O Lord, I cannot fight. Better I withdraw and renounce the battle. Let me be slain, but I will not raise my weapon against my own.”
Then Krishna spoke. His words became a teaching for all ages.
Krishna’s Teaching to Arjuna
🌿 About the soul:
“The soul is not born and does not die. It is eternal, like the Sun behind the clouds. The body changes, but the true Self never disappears.”
🌿 About duty:
“Perform your dharma, without attachment to results. Act for truth, not for reward.”
🌿 About the paths of yoga:
Karma-yoga — act without ego and expectations.
Jñāna-yoga — knowledge of the highest truth.
Bhakti-yoga — devotion and love for God.
🌿 About Himself:
Krishna reveals to Arjuna that He is the source of all that exists, the Supreme Lord who sustains the worlds. In Chapter 11, He shows Arjuna His cosmic form — a radiant infinity containing the entire universe.
A Symbol for Us
This story is not merely an ancient epic; it lives within each of us.
Arjuna is the human soul standing before a choice. The battlefield is our life, where we confront fear, doubt, duty, and temptation.
Krishna is the voice of the Divine within, calling us to truth and love. He reminds us:
✨ We are not the body, but the eternal soul.
✨ Everything passes, except our bond with God.
✨ Life becomes luminous when we act in the spirit of devotion.
Thus Krishna came to Earth not only for Arjuna, but for each of us—to remind us of the eternal nature of the soul and to open the path of Divine Love.
